Ooh, Baby!

From this

Baby Rockstar is finally finished, seaming, buttons and all! It should be in its new home tomorrow evening.

The buttons are just perfect!

But bigger than the button holes. So I used snaps, which might prove easier on the mommy.

I hope she likes it!

Yarn: Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock - Mediumweight
How much? most of 1 hank (approx 350 yards)

Short and Sweet

First I was bad, then I was sick. Now I just am. So here is a quicky to prove I'm still around. More details to follow...

Twist and Shout. Here is a nice progress shot of sleeve 2, taken in the freezing sunshine yesterday.

But don't think that's as far as I got. As the sun sank and the darkness pervaded, the sleeve was finished and the seaming began!

Lazy Daisy is moving along. Now that Twist and Shout is in the seaming phase, this will be my new lunchtime project.

The buttons arrived for Baby Rockstar Jacket. (More info and link coming.)

They look even better with the jacket.

Too bad the buttonholes are too small. Working on a solution now (maybe snaps?)

Sushi Day

If only every day were Sushi day. In my opinion sushi is the perfect food. Well, one of two perfect foods, the other being cholent. And today there was sushi for lunch, which made me happy. Very happy. That and finishing up the Baby Surprise Jacket. The highlights of my day. Of course there's still one seam to be sewn, a neckline to finish and buttons to order. But it's off the needles. And off the needles is a sort of kind of finished. My order from Blue Moon Fibers should be arriving today or tomorrow. The yarn to make Charlotte's Web almost here. And in that is the hank of Jasper I'll need to make a hat to go with the BSJ. So now it's time to get back to Twist & Shout and to start working on another baby present. Because another baby was born this morning. And he too will need a warm, cozy, squishy sweater.

What did YOU do with Your Extra Hour?

Yesterday was a special day. Many other people in many other countries had already had their day, but yesterday was mine. All mine. Ok, ours. All ours. Honestly, I don't know how many people I shared it with (I know not the Israelis or Europeans) but it felt like it was all mine. Because I woke up bright and early, fully refreshed. The sun was out and there was quiet. Serene Sunday morning quiet. And so whilst everyone else was getting in their extra hour of sleep, I started off my day the best way I know how. I got in an extra hour of knitting!

I've been pretty monogamous with my knitting lately. And while this makes for some boring blogging, it's nice to see projects getting finished. No, this does not mean I am finished with Twist and Shout. But worry not, we haven't broken up. Just taken a wee cooling off period while I have my fling with the BSJ. Isn't she hot?

Like a Rock Star!

And I got much work done yesterday.

I'd hoped to get it finished today, perhaps tomorrow. I do hope so. I am now at ridge 55 so there are only 6 more ridges to go. 12 more rows. Although I'm thinking of an I-cord bind off. Or a collar. Or both. We'll see. And I'm hoping to have something special in the button department.

In the meantime, some of you were wondering about the specs, so here they are:

A Comedy of Errors

Getting up, getting dressed, going to work, coming home, eating dinner, knitting the night away. That's pretty much been the schedule. Yes, I too noticed that Blog posting wasn't listed. I don't know why I'm having such a block with it these days. I still blame lack of sleep. Or rather lack of normal bed time. And this I am endeavoring to change. See, I even did it last night which is why I am here, writing today (but I still ran out of time and had to finish this in the afternoon.) And because I haven't been here much this week I decided to give you more than yarn. Some of you better be saying "Thank you!"

As I hinted earlier this week, I actually had material to work with and still didn't write, so I'll give you the highlights.

Sunday evening was spent in Monsey. Both buying groceries at the Rockland Grocery Store (if you've been you know what I'm talking about!) and at Sushi Metsuyan to celebrate the Cheerleader's birthday. Since sushi seems to be one of my current favorites I was quite pleased with the choice. And I believe our birthday girl had a wonderful time.

Monday seems to be lost but Tuesday was one of those days. Placing a lunch order for the weekly meeting was its own little sequence of disasters. And then Tuesday evening was spent hiding a large part of my stash.

Yes, I may be a self supporting adult who has lived in three countries and traveled the world but there is one thing that makes me revert to childhood, like a little girl hiding her secrets. My mother's arrival.

And so Wednesday evening NNR graciously offered to pick up my mom from the airport for her overnight visit. That would be the same NNR who was born and raised in NJ. The same NNR who doesn't understand why I complain about the signage on NJ roadways. Yes, that NNR, who missed the entrance to the airport and spent 20 minutes going trying to get back. Fortunately NNR has a great sense of humor and we laughed the whole time. And anyway, she says it's my fault because I called my mom along the way and told her we were coming via Alaska. Anyway we had a lovely visit, albeit quite short as the plane arrived 2.5 hours late. At 6:00 in the morning she came into my room not to say goodbye, but to have me make her a cup of tea. And then she was back to the airport and on her way to London and I was back to bed! How fortunate am I that she called at 8:00 to see if I'd found her cell phone. (Yes, it fell out her pocket in NNR's car.)

Thursday night I finished sleeve 1 of Twist and Shout.

There;s only one sleeve left to go until the seeming and adding the collar!

Oh, and I've started working on my first BSJ!

And now here we are, Friday afternoon. Shabbos is in about half an hour so I better go. Let's see how next week goes.
