The Heart Wants What the Heart Wants

I should be finishing up my WIPs. I shouldn't even be seriously considering casting on for something new. Poor Arietta has been waiting so patiently. Peacock Picot's are past the 3/4 mark and my feet REALLY want them finished. Forget about finishing up second socks or coordinating gloves. And Argosy 6 or Windchime Blues or Pinks take a number and a seat, it's gonna be a while. The heart wants what the heart wants. And my heart really, REALLY wants to cast on something from Lynn Barr's Knitting New Scarves.

If you haven't looked at Knitting New Scarves, what are you waiting for. These patterns are truly awesome. Now I almost passed it over because the cover didn't appeal at all. But, look inside my friends. Look inside. You'll never see scarves the same way again. You see, it's all about the construction. New constructions, new techniques for me to learn, new challenges to face. I think the lyrics from the Love Boat theme song just about some it up:

Love, exciting and new
Come Aboard. We're expecting you.
Love, life's sweetest reward.
Let it flow, it floats back to you.

Love Boat soon will be making another run
The Love Boat promises something for everyone
Set a course for adventure,
Your mind on a new romance.

Love won't hurt anymore
It's an open smile on a friendly shore.
Yes LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE! It's LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE!
("The Love Boat" by Paul Williams and Charles Fox)

When you put that in knitting terms, well, you get the point.

Top of my lust list: Drifting Pleats (still searching for the right yarn and waiting for KP to restock their Harmonies, I am in need of wooden DPNs,) followed by Aria, Carumboa and the scarf I will cast on for imminently, New Wave. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, just take a gander at some project pictures...

Aria

New Wave

Carumboa

be still my heart, it's...

Drifting Pleats

Please don't think I take my obligations lightly, however. This came in the mail yesterday. All ready to be transformed into a pair of felted clogs for H-J J's tiny toes. And now that she is coming here I will be able to felt them to exactly the right size!
