I've Got A Secret

Some secrets are hard to keep. Some are hard to tell. Mine is both.

I have a secret.

It's one I've spilled to a few, but have now faced the reality that it is time to spill to all.

I have a secret.

So here it goes... In just six weeks I will be leaving Israel, after 10 years, and returning to live in the States. My reasons are personal, but I will say that though it is the right thing to do, it makes me very VERY sad. And if you are into irony, try this on for size. My ticket is for 1 AM, not only July 4th (and all it's implications) but also for the 18th of Tammuz, just hours after breaking the fast. A fast we keep because it is the beginning of the 3 weeks, a time of national mourning, during which we focus on disasters that befell the Jewish People throughout history and the beginning of the Exile. Like I said, IRONY!

Ok, that wasn't so bad. The tears won't come for a few more weeks anyway and by making this public I will do as mother always tells me to: GET ON WITH IT!

Get on with the preparing, the packing, the selling, etc.

Of course this doesn't affect most people who read this blog, because many of you aren't in Israel. But it does mean my posting may be a bit erratic, especially near the end of June and first half of July.

I will be in NYC for just over a week and then on to NoCal, bouncing between Marin and Silicon Valley for a couple of months while I figure things out. Plan to be moving to NYC (where exactly is one of the things to be figured!) before Rosh Hashana. Heavy stuff.

But my knitting keeps me calm, and I have enough projects to keep me going and it's been a year since I saw my family so those couple months will do me good. And if anyone out there has any knitting recommendations or wants to meet for coffee and some KIP let me know!

I followed your link on Knit Talk. I wanted to wish you the best of luck with your move and the new chapter you are starting with your life. We've been here for 12+ years, and I think about leaving quite often.

I'm sorry you have to leave Israel if it's not what you want to do. My cousins have been there for years and, though I miss them dreadfully, I don't think they'll ever come back.

Get in touch when you're in the NY area and maybe we can get together.

I LOVED your tribute to Papa. Sounds like you had a great relationship. It's so hard on those of us left when those we love so much are gone.

Be well.

First Good Luck. When in NYC go to Purl in Soho...you might bump in to a celeb or to as well!
I order from them sometimes. I love how they ship things.
