What a Tangled Web

I love this pattern. Truly, I do. And thanks to Silfert I am virtually marker free, (I'm only using them to mark the increase areas,) and the knitting is going even faster. So then why am I worried?

You could say it is because I am from a family of worriers. And I am so happy with the progress that perhaps something is bound to go wrong? No, it's just that I love the first three transitions so much that I fear finding the "right" fourth color may be beyond me.

When I look at my work, I find myself wishing I had started with two lighter colors and that the Jade was color 3, ending with Jasper as I had originally envisioned, way back when.

I love the transitions...

...and the lace pattern. Just wait until it has been blocked!

But now that I am finished with color 3, I have severe doubts about Count Cluckula. Which is why I succumbed to the drug that is Blue Moon Fiber Arts and ordered Moody Blues. And then two days later decided that perhaps the brand new colorway Never on a Sunday would be even better. So until they arrive, Charlotte and her Web are in a holding pattern, I'm afraid.

And if that wasn't enough to worry about, I'm afraid that one hank of color 5 just won't be enough. Look how much of color 3 I used, and there are still the transition rows to complete!

I can't believe I just wrote a long comment and then deleted it before it got posted. I guess I'm just too tired.

I think the shawl looks just gorgeous. Maybe one solution to the color problem is to just stick with the three colors and go up and then back in the color progression, if you know what I mean. Of course you would need more than one skein of each, but maybe 2 of each would do it.

What is the secret of the no (or few) markers? Can you explain it or give a pointer?

I love the colors. I just can't decide which of your projects I like the most. And knitting without markers? My hero!
